The Cyclones Showcase Their Five Star Culture (A Perspective Article)

On Tuesday, Iowa State played in of their most anticipated games of the year. The Cyclones fell early to an eleven-point deficit though they rallied in the final ten minutes of the first half to gain the lead going into halftime. Iowa State outscored the Horns 42-32 in the second half leading to a 78-67 Cyclone Victory. Rebounds were the team's greatest strength. With nine offensive rebounds, the Clones controlled the clock late and kept the ball out of the Longhorns' hands.

This season fans were looking forward to this game more than any other as they were up against former Cyclone Tyrese Hunter and the most hated team in the Big 12, the Texas Longhorns. Over the offseason, Tyrese transferred from Iowa State to Texas and though he is making significantly more in NIL money, he has made an enemy of the entire Iowa State fanbase. Nearly every time Tyrese got his hands on the ball(including warmups) the student section would erupt in boos and words that shouldn't be repeated in this article. Tyrese started as the best player on the court hitting three shots from behind the arch but that quickly changed as he only scored one point in the last 32 minutes of the game. Our twitter account asked everybody if the obligatory chants against Tyrese Hunter were necessary and we got a few responses.

Logan-

"Don’t blame him for transferring and getting some extra NIL money, but he knew what he was getting into when transferring within."

-Flyzing

"He's getting too much hate"

-Austin

"Transfer inner conference, yes."

-Carter Patterson

"Yes."

Iowa State received a lot of blowback from the nasty words directed towards Tyrese Hunter, even some students were kicked out of Hilton due to the word "Tyrese Hunter" being banned from utterance in the stadium. Never the less it was a complete census amongst Cyclone fans faithful that Tyrese Hunter deserved the blowback he received.

The biggest play of the game goes to the new Cyclone's point guard, Tamin Lipsey. Lipsey blocked his predecessor Tyrese Hunter halfway through the 2nd and the crow was loving it. Seeing Hunter's replacement make a play on him was what the team needed to continue to push through. The crowd could be heard shouting; Tamin's better!

The Cyclones had one of the best games they have had all year with players like Jaren Holmes and Osun Osunniyi having great performances. Osun has long had issues finishing at the rim but on Tuesday he shot 83%. Osun also led the team with 7 rebounds. Jaren Holmes also had a great game with his highest-scoring conference game of 21 points. Caleb Grill was quiet most of the game but he hit some outstanding threes to keep the Clones on top.

Overall this was one of the most electric games of the past five years and any fan at the game would agree Hilton is a special place. The Clones will be in Stillwater on Saturday to face off against the Cowboys. This Tuesday they will be back home to take on Kansas State. Kansas State is tied with the Clones and the Jayhawks for first place in the Big 12 so this will surely be another loud environment.
